Getting engaged is such a meaningful experience. You want to ensure that your proposal is memorable by speaking from your heart. Winging your proposal is not always the best idea. If you’re at a loss for words, we offer a few suggestions that may help you when brainstorming ideas before you pop the question.
Stay true to yourself
The last thing you want to do is be so rehearsed that you do not even sound like yourself. You want to be natural and not sounds like Alexa or Siri.
Being vulnerable is key
If you feel like you’re going to cry, don’t worry. If you show your soft side, so will your partner. This is not an issue, it will help set the tone and make the moment special.
Take a trip down memory lane
Start your proposal speech off by reminiscing on when you first met each other, a special moment you have spent with each other like a trip or struggle you both overcame together, or speak about when you realized you fell in love with them.
What do you love most about them?
Point out their best qualities. What is it about them that you absolutely love the most? Do they put others before themselves? Are they free spirited? Dedicated? Funny? Open-minded? Whatever it may be, tell them.
How did they make you better?
This may be the most impactful message you can deliver during your proposal besides asking the ultimate question. What have they done for you to make you a better person? Do they push you to work harder so you can support them? Did they help you through college or schooling? Maybe it’s something as simple as they helped you become more understanding. Praise them for all the good they have brought into your life.
Help them visualize the future with you
Marriage is forever. Make sure you help them envision what forever with you looks like. Are you going to travel, buy a house, move to a big city, or have kids? Give them an idea of what you two will accomplish in the future.
The moment of truth
Everything you’ve just said has led you here. You’ve built up the emotions and are ready for the fireworks. Get down on one knee and ask the question you have been anxiously waiting to say and she’s been anxiously waiting to hear, “Will you marry me?”.
We hope you and your partner live a long and happy marriage. Have you spoken with a professional about what diamond you should get for your loved one? Come into Max Jewelers this week and we will guide you throughout the entire process.
